In Loving Memory of Torgal
(formerly Gunther, aka Cid, aka the World’s Sweetest Escape Artist)
Torgal was the very first dog adopted from Fluffy Butts Rescue, and he left paw prints on our hearts that will never fade. When he first came to us, we called him Gunther—a goofy, energetic Husky with the most ridiculous tongue-out, derpy smile you’ve ever seen. He had bounce for days (seriously, we’re still not sure how he managed to clear fences like a deer), and despite being all muscle and fluff, he was convinced he was a lap dog. Cuddles were mandatory, and love was his full-time job.
After going through a few names, his adopter chose Torgal—a name fit for a loyal, loving, slightly chaotic companion. He was adored in his forever home, where he played with his favorite blue squeaker ball (the one with the tennis ball inside), made everyone laugh with his antics, and soaked up every second of the good life he deserved.
In April, we said goodbye to Torgal after he lost a sudden and aggressive battle with cancer. His time was far too short, but his impact was immeasurable. He was more than our first success story—he was proof of why we do this work: to give dogs like him a chance to be loved, even if only for a little while. Torgal’s memory lives on in every rescue we save, every fence we double-check, and every cuddle we give to a dog who just wants to feel safe.
Run free, sweet Torgal. We’ll never forget you.
